BACKYARD BBQ BUFFS INVITED TO COMPETE IN THE BACKYARD BBQ BASH AT RIDGE FERRY PARK ON APRIL 29TH; REGISTRATION CLOSES APRIL 19TH

(Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation):

Let’s be honest. Almost anyone who uses a grill thinks their recipes and creations are the best. Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation along with Coke and Shaw Industries invites all local backyard BBQ buffs to put their best chicken and pork recipes to the test at the Backyard BBQ Bash on Saturday, April 29 at Ridge Ferry Park.

Friends, families, church groups, businesses and others can sign up now for the chance to prove they have the best barbecue in Rome and Floyd County. A panel of esteemed judges will sample the pork and chicken and select the best of the bunch. The public gets to take part as well by sampling and voting in the people’s choice award for the best pork.

Registration costs $75 and includes four event t-shirts, four team member wristbands and a 20 x 20 cooking spot. Top competitors take home cash prizes, cool trophies and bragging rights for the best barbecue in town, and the overall champion brings home the coveted championship belt.

“This is one of the many events we look forward to hosting each year. It’s a great way for businesses and other organizations to get their message and their cooking skills in front of several thousand people at Ridge Ferry Park,” Todd Wofford, Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Director, says. “We encourage anyone on the fence about competing to register and come on out, enjoy the day and have fun.”

Don’t wait to sign up, because registration closes on Wednesday, April 19. For more information on the rules or to sign up for the cook off, visit www.rfpra.com.
