April is observed each year as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia will team up with Harbor House – The Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center to host 3rd annual Walk to Support Survivors on Friday, April 28th in downtown Rome.
Kimberly King, SACNWGA Executive Director, enthuses that she is looking forward to this community event. Registration will remain open until the day of the Walk.
Participation is free. Register by texting ‘walk’ to 53-555 or on the day of the event at 11 am. The Walk to Support Survivors will depart from the front of the Rome City Auditorium at noon; that will be preceded by a presentation at 11:50 am.
Both King and Allen Babcock, Executive Director of Harbor House, believe that the Walk offers a sense of empowerment and validation to the survivors of sexual assault.
