ROME BRAVES DROP THIRD STRAIGHT TO HUDSON VALLEY RENEGADES, TEAMS’ SIX GAME SET IN ROME CONTINUES THRU SUNDAY

(Media release from the Rome Braves):

The Rome Braves and Hudson Valley Renegades resumed their six game series on Thursday night for Bark In The Bark Night. AdventHealth Stadium welcomed in dogs from all over the area, in hopes of seeing the Braves crack the win column for the first time since Sunday.

JJ Niekro would get the starting nod from manager Angel Flores. Niekro entered the night with an 0-1 record after his two starts on the young season. Hudson Valley would jump on Niekro early, tagging him for three runs in the game’s opening frame.

Once out to a lead, the Renegades would not look back. Hudson Valley’s scorching hot offense would go on to plate ten runs against the Braves on Thursday night.

Rome would issue fourteen walks to the Hudson Valley renegades on Thursday. The fourteen walks would tie a franchise record for Hudson Valley. It is the most walks allowed in a nine inning contest for the Braves since April 25th, 2012, when Rome issued fourteen walks to the now defunct Hagerstown Suns.

The Braves offensive efforts would come in the late going, as Hudson Valley pitcher Tyrone Yulie would carry a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Rome would finally get on the board with a Nacho Alvarez Jr ground out that scored Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. Singles from Stephen Paolini and Adam Zebrowksi would give the Braves their fourth and final runs of the evening.

Hudson Valley handed Rome their seventh loss of the season on Thursday night by a final score of ten runs to four. JJ Niekro is the losing pitcher of record, while Tyrone Yulie notches his first win of the 2023 campaign.

The Braves and Renegades will continue the series on Friday night with a 7:00pm first pitch.
