STRIDER MAKES HISTORY IN ATLANTA BRAVES’ SHUTOUT WIN OVER MIAMI MARLINS

The Atlanta Braves blanked the Miami Marlins 11-0 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game National League East series at Truist Park. It allowed the Braves to snap a four-game losing streak.

Spencer Strider took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. He gave up just two hits, walked none, and struck out a season-high 13 in eight scoreless innings en route to the win for Atlanta. He is now the only pitcher in franchise history to record at least nine strikeouts in nine straight starts.

The Braves notched five home runs. Two of those were hit by Sam Hilliard, who had a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth and a solo shot during the sixth.

Sean Murphy got the Braves on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. Eddie Rosario and Austin Riley each had two-run homers in the fifth and sixth, respectively. Ozzie Albies added a three-run triple during the eighth.
