ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN INTERLEAGUE SET WITH VICTORY OVER BOSTON RED SOX

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-3 on Tuesday night in the opener of a two-game interleague set at Truist Park. It was the third straight victory for the National League East-leading Braves.

Matt Olson got Atlanta on the board with a two-run homer during the bottom of the first inning.

Those two runs were among a total of four scored by the home team in that first inning.

Sean Murphy contributed a total of four RBIs. The reigning NL Player of the Week drove Olson to home plate with an RBI double during the eighth.

Justin Turner had two RBIs for the Red Sox to include a solo home run in the top of the sixth.

Charlie Morton was credited as the winning pitcher for Atlanta after giving up two runs and five hits, walking two, and striking out seven in six innings of work. Nick Pivetta was charged with the loss for Boston.
