ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SECOND STRAIGHT TO LOS ANGELES DODGERS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-1 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed LA to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Dodgers scored the first run of the night on an RBI single by Will Smith in the top of the first. The Braves tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI double by Austin Riley in the bottom of that inning.

But the Dodgers surged ahead with a solo home run by (former Brave) Jason Heyward in the second. They added two more runs in that inning on an RBI double by Smith. Max Muncy had an RBI single in the seventh. JD Martinez had a three-run homer in the ninth.

Spencer Strider was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering four runs (two of them earned) and five hits, walking three, and striking out 11 in six innings. Bobby Miller was credited with the win for Los Angeles in his major league debut.

The National League East-leading Braves are now 29-19 on the 2023 regular season, and the NL West-leading Dodgers are 31-19. The teams’ series finale is scheduled for tonight at 7:20 pm in Atlanta. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
