ROME BRAVES DROP THURSDAY NIGHT OUTING VERSUS THE GREENVILLE DRIVE, TEAMS’ SERIES CONTINUES THROUGH THE WEEKEND

Final score – Greenville 6, Rome 2

(Media release from the Rome Braves):

The Rome Braves dropped their second straight as the Braves and Greenville Drive continued their seven-game series on Thursday night.

Angel Flores would send Ian Mejia to the bump in the series’s fourth game, as Rome looked for their twenty-second win of the season. On the opposite side of the line, Greenville would give the ball to Isaac Coffey in hopes of securing at least a series split.

Mejia and Coffey would go punch for punch in the game’s opening frames, but Greenville would strike first as a wild pitch from Mejia would allow Kier Meredith to score the game’s first run.

Greenville’s Marcello Mayer would be the driving force behind the offense on Thursday night, driving in three runs on two hits.

Isaac Coffey would finish his night with eleven punchouts over six full innings of work. The former Oral Roberts Golden Eagle and Summit League Triple Crown winner would be awarded the win, his third of the year.

The Braves and the Drive will meet again this evening at 7 pm. Their series continues through Sunday.
