Rome Braves pitcher Daniel Martinez has been named the South Atlantic League’s pitcher of the week by Minor League Baseball.
In game one of a double header against the Greenville Drive, Martinez would notch the league’s first complete game shutout of the season. Martinez would collect five strike outs while only surrendering three hits over seven shutout innings.
Martinez becomes the first Rome Brave to record a complete game shutout since Luis De Avila’s no-hitter against Greenville on July 2nd, 2022.
Martinez’s earned run average for 2023 now sits at 1.98, and is coupled with a WHIP of 1.14.
Martinez joins Hunter Riggins and AJ Smith-Shawver as Rome Braves who have been named SAL Pitcher of The Week.
Rome will begin a six-game set in Bowling Green, KY versus the Hot Rods tonight at 7:35 pm.
