ATLANTA BRAVES’ LATEST WINNING STREAK ENDS WITH LOSS AT HOME TO WASHINGTON NATIONALS

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Washington Nationals 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game National League East series at Truist Park. That brought a seven-game winning streak to an end for Atlanta.

The Braves struck first with a two-run homer by Matt Olson in the bottom of the first inning.

The Nationals got on the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Keibert Ruiz and surged ahead with five runs in the sixth to include an RBI single from Joey Meneses and a pair of two-run homers by Jeimer Candelario and Dominic Smith.

Bryce Elder was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and eight hits, walking one, and striking out one in five and one-third innings. Trevor Williams was credited with the win for Washington.

The NL East-leading Braves are now 40-25 on the 2023 regular season. They will be up in Detroit for the first of three interleague games against the Tigers
