(Media release from the Rome Police Department):

On June 27, 2023 at about 1:40 am, Rome Police Officers responded to 131 Dodd Blvd, Callier Springs Apartment Complex, to a report of a male subject who had been shot. Officers arrived and found a black male had been shot in the upper leg/groin area and was bleeding heavily. Officers rendered aid to the male until Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over care. The male was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The male will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy. The victim is identified as Te’Vian Markez Williams, Sr., age 30, of a Rome address.

The Rome Police Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and assumed command of the investigation. Evidence was collected and witnesses were identified. This investigation led them to a person of interest who is wanted for questioning. That name will be released at a later time.

This appears to be an isolated incident with the victim and person of interest knowing each other.
