Ladies and gentlemen, mark your calendars for Saturday, August 19th. That is the date of the 2023 Health Initiative for Men and Women to be presented by the 100 Black Men of Rome-Northwest Georgia and the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition with support of other community partners. It will be held from 8 am to noon at the Floyd County Health Department, located at 16 East 12th Street in Rome.
Erin Hernandez, President and CEO of the Cancer Coalition, attests that the Initiative is a collaborative event focused on the health and well-being of all men and women.
Health screenings will be offered, as well as health-related information from event vendors. Mammograms will also be offered and must be scheduled in advance by calling (706) 509-6840 and choosing option one.
People without access to healthcare may attend the event for those screenings and additional assistance if it is needed, adds Hernandez.
