REMINDER: THE NEXT ELECTRONICS RECYCLING EVENT IS SET FOR SATURDAY, SCRAP TIRE AMNESTY DAYS ARE COMING UP IN AUGUST

Here is a reminder that the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center will host another Electronics Collection Event on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at 412 Lavender Drive.

Appointments are required and may be scheduled via the SignUpGenius link at www.floydcountyga.gov or by calling the center at (706) 291-5266.

The electronic items that are typically collected during these events include computers, televisions, recorders, and most peripheral-type equipment such as printers and keyboards.

Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County, anticipates another great recycling event. She indicates that there was a large turnout for the last event held back in May.

Saturday’s recycling event is open to residents of Rome and Floyd County only. Be sure to have proof of Floyd County residency (such as a vehicle tag, license, utility bill, etc.).

Household hazardous waste and electronics will be gathered at the following recycling event slated for September 9th. Only electronics will be collected at the final event of the year on November 18th.

Wells additionally reminds the public of the Scrap Tire Amnesty Days set for late August at the GE Plant located at 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome. Hours are 2 pm until 7 pm on Friday, August 25th and 7 am until 2 pm on Saturday, August 26th.

These Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are made possible thanks to a grant from the Environmental Protection Division’s (EPD) Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) Program, says Wells.

There are some guidelines for this event –

o   10 tires per vehicle, limit two farm tractor tires

o   Must have Floyd county tag or other proof of residency (license, tax bill, utility bill)

o   No commercial tires (tractor trailer, skid steer, fork lift)

o   No tires on rim

o   Tires must be clean and dry

o   Multiple trips are not allowed for individuals or vehicles
