The 2023 Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K and 2-Mile Health Walk is scheduled for Saturday, August 19th. Proceeds will benefit the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.
The 5K will begin at 8 am. Tina Bartleson, FRC Executive Director, says that this race is a qualifier for the annual Peachtree Road Race and, of course, will include Rome’s iconic (and steep) Clocktower Hill.
The 2-Mile Health Walk will start at 8:05 am. The walkers’ path is more laid back (and does not feature the Clocktower), adds Bartleson.
Registration costs $25 for the race and $20 for the walk through Friday, July 21st. The price increases to $30/$25 from July 22nd through August 9th and to $35/$30 from August 10th through August 15th, the date on which registration will close. The funds raised from the Clocktower Race will support the FRC’s mission to prevent child abuse. That mission is facilitated by their Parent Aide model, which is based on really getting to know and walking alongside parents amid the challenges of life, asserts Bartleson.
The FRC’s fundraising goal for this year’s Clocktower Race is over $30,000, says Bartleson, who indicates that around 400 runners and walkers participate in the event annually.
