FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF DAVE ROBERSON ENCOURAGES THE PUBLIC TO BE SAFE AS LOCAL STUDENTS PREPARE TO BEGIN THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR

It’s almost time for local students to head back to school! Friday, July 28th is the first day of classes for the Rome City Schools.

Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson encourages local families to stay safe as summer vacation ends and the rush of a new school year begins.

Drivers are urged by Sheriff Roberson to be especially careful around school zones amid back-to-school traffic.

Although summer vacation is drawing to a close for area youth, the summer heat continues to soar. Sheriff Roberson reminds the public to stay safe and assist those most vulnerable to the heat.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office helped more than 150 families with school supplies on Saturday at the Bless Coalition’s Supplies for Success event.

Thursday, August 3rd is the first day of classes for the Floyd County Schools. St. Mary’s School’s students are also set to head back to class that day with an early dismissal; their first full day is August 4th. The first day of the 2023-24 school year will be August 8th for Unity Christian School and August 14th for Darlington School.
