REMINDER: SCRAP TIRE AMNESTY DAYS SET FOR LATER THIS MONTH

Here’s a reminder that Scrap Tire Amnesty Days will be held later this month at the GE Plant, 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome. Hours are 2 pm to 7 pm on Friday, August 25th and 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, August 26th.

The Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are made possible by a grant from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) program. Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County, asserts that event hours are flexible to accommodate county residents’ varied schedules.

There are some guidelines for this event –

o   10 tires per vehicle, limit two farm tractor tires

o   Must have Floyd county tag or other proof of residency (license, tax bill, utility bill)

o   No commercial tires (tractor trailer, skid steer, fork lift)

o   No tires on rim

o   Tires must be clean and dry

o   Multiple trips are not allowed for individuals or vehicles

Wells says that another Scrap Tire Amnesty event is planned for October 20th and 21st.
