Household hazardous waste usually collected at these events include liquids such as used motor oil, paint, herbicides and pesticides, and even vapes, says Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County.

Electronic items typically collected include computers, televisions, recorders, and most any peripheral type equipment like printers and keyboards.

The event is open to Rome and Floyd County residents only; be sure to have proof of residency (vehicle tag, license, utility bill, etc.).

Only electronics will be collected during the final recycling event of the year on November 18th.

Wells also reminds the public of the Scrap Tire Amnesty Days set for later on this month at the GE Plant located at 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome. Hours are 2 pm until 7 pm on Friday, August 25th and 7 am until 2 pm on Saturday, August 26th.
