REMINDER: SCRAP TIRE AMNESTY DAYS SLATED FOR THIS WEEKEND

Here’s a reminder that Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are slated for this weekend at the GE Plant, located at 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome. Hours are 2 pm until 7 pm on Friday and 7 am until 2 pm on Saturday.

The Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are made possible by a grant from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) program. Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County, asserts that event hours are flexible to accommodate county residents’ varied schedules. She adds that there are some guidelines to follow for this event –

o   10 tires per vehicle, limit two farm tractor tires

o   Must have Floyd county tag or other proof of residency (license, tax bill, utility bill)

o   No commercial tires (tractor trailer, skid steer, fork lift)

o   No tires on rim

o   Tires must be clean and dry

o   Multiple trips are not allowed for individuals or vehicles
