ROME-FLOYD RECYCLING CENTER TO HOST HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE AND ELECTRONICS COLLECTION EVENT SET FOR THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center, located at 412 Lavender Drive, will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event on Saturday, September 9th from 9 am until 3 pm.

Appointments are required and may be scheduled via the SignUpGenius link at www.floydcountyga.gov or by calling the center at (706) 291-5266.

Household hazardous waste usually collected at these events include liquids such as used motor oil, paint, herbicides and pesticides, and even vapes, says Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County.

Electronic items typically collected include computers, televisions, recorders, and most any peripheral type equipment like printers and keyboards.

Shasta Farrer, Life and Fire Safety Educator for the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department, asserts that proper disposal of items like batteries and hazardous liquids can prevent a fire.

Saturday’s recycling event is open to Rome and Floyd County residents only; participants must have proof of residency (vehicle tag, license, utility bill, etc.).

Only electronics will be collected during the final recycling event of the year on November 18th.
