ICE SKATING RINK AT RIDGE FERRY PARK TO OPEN ON THANKSGIVING DAY

(Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation):

Just in time for the holiday season, Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Atlanta’s Event Specialists is bringing ice skating to Ridge Ferry Park. The Rink at Ridge Ferry Park is slated to open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23.

The rink will be set up on the concrete pad in front of the Coca-Cola Stage at Ridge Ferry Park and be open for business for open skating every day from Nov. 23 until mid-January. The rink operates rain or shine, hot or cold, because it is kept under a large tent.

Skaters will want to bundle up and also make sure to bring socks. Skaters will enjoy a good time in the tent-covered rink listening to music. Rink admission includes skate rental and allows for skating the entire day as long as you keep your armband. Concessions will be sold outside the skating area.

“We started working on bringing ice skating back to Rome earlier this year. We are super pleased to be partnering with Atlanta’s Event Specialists. They have a long history of doing ice skating, and we know they will do a great job,” Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Director Todd Wofford says.

The rink will have open skate hours Monday through Sunday and also offer times for field trips in the morning before open skate opens. Hours will vary depending on days and whether school is in session. All hours and information about the rink can be found at www.rfpra.com/iceskating and will also be posted on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
