AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICE AVERAGE CONTINUES TO DROP

(Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group):

Georgia gas price average has seen a steady decline for the past 2 weeks. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.56 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).

Monday’s state average is 4 cents less than a week ago, 8 cents less than a month ago, and 30 cents more than this time last year. It now costs $53.40 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasolineGeorgians are paying $1.20 less to fill up at the pump compared to a month ago.

“Despite the uptick in crude oil prices, Georgians are feeling some relief at the pump,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Gas prices may ebb and flow until we get beyond hurricane season and its threats to Gulf Coast oil and gas production and refining.”

Gas Prices Slump Slightly as Summer End Approaches

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has held steady at around $3.82 (subject to change overnight). The decrease in gas prices for some states comes despite a recent uptick in the price of oil, the primary ingredient in gasoline. According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand increased from 9.07 to 9.32 million barrels a day last week. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks dropped from 217.4 to 214.7 million barrels. Rising oil prices, higher gas demand, and tighter supply may push pump prices higher.

Regional Prices:

The most expensive Georgia metro markets – are Savannah ($3.67), Atlanta ($3.62), and Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.60).

The least expensive Georgia metro markets – are Valdosta ($3.43), Warner Robins ($3.42), and Albany ($3.34).

  • Enroll in fuel savings programs.

Fuel-Saving Tips for Drivers

  • Maintain your vehicle to ensure the best fuel economy. Find a trusted automotive facility at AAA.com/Auto Repair.
  • Combine errands to limit driving time.
  • Slow down. Fuel economy diminishes significantly at highway speeds above 50 mph. Drive conservatively and avoid aggressive driving. Aggressive acceleration and speeding reduce fuel economy.

Traffic Safety Tip: AAA-The Auto Club Group “Move Over For Me” Campaign

“Drivers, if you see a disabled vehicle on the roadside while traveling, be courteous and Move Over,” said Waiters. “Remember the person who broke down could be you, a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a neighbor. Move Over for the safety of others and because it is the right thing to do!”
