Monday marked the 22nd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S.A. Ceremonies were held nationwide to pay respects to the thousands of lives lost on that tragic day and to honor the acts of heroism by Americans of all walks of life in the wake of those attacks.
The Rome-Floyd County Fire Department on Monday morning hosted a 9/11 Remembrance Service at the Firefighters Memorial Plaza located behind the Rome City Auditorium. It was livestreamed and may still be watched on the City of Rome, GA page on Facebook.
Damon DiMarco, author of ‘Tower Stories : An Oral History of 9/11”, says that the silver lining of 9/11 was how Americans served one another.
DiMarco was a guest on WLAQ’s Good Morning Rome on Monday, along with Reverend Jim Martin, who established a ministry down at the foot of the Towers days after the attack.
