The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home located on Riverside Parkway in Rome has been awarded a $2,300 grant from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council. The money is intended for the organization of collections pertaining to the history of the museum property back to the 1830s, according to a release from the Georgia Archives.
Using funds awarded to the University of Georgia Libraries and the Georgia Archives by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the GHRAC awarded grants totaling $32,957 to entities statewide to develop and/or implement projects to identify, preserve, and provide access to historical records.

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home is a National Historic Landmark that is designated by the National Park Service as a site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
