ATLANTA BRAVES SWEPT IN MIAMI BY MARLINS

The Atlanta Braves were defeated by the Miami Marlins 16-2 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game National League East set at LoanDepot Park down in Miami, FL. The division champion Braves were swept by the third-place Marlins in that weekend series.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a grand slam for a second straight day to help lift Miami to victory. Jorge Soler, Jake Burger, and Nick Fortes also homered.

Marcell Ozuna got Atlanta on the board with a solo home run during the top of the eighth. Michael Harris II drove in the Braves’ second run of the day on an RBI single in that inning.

Charlie Morton took the loss for Atlanta after giving up six runs and six hits, walking five, and striking out five over just four and two-third innings. Jesus Luzardo was credited with the win for Miami.

Thus ends a seven-game road trip that started in Philadelphia with four games against the Phillies and resulted in three wins, four losses, and a sixth straight division title for Atlanta.

The NL East champion Braves still have the best record in MLB, now 96-53 on the 2023 regular season. They will open a three-game set at home versus the Philadelphia Phillies this evening. The first pitch is slated for 7:20 pm at Truist Park. Catch all the action on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
