(Media release from the Exchange Club Family Resource Center):
Pickleball enthusiasts have a chance to support healthy families and qualify for tournaments at the third annual Family Resource Center (FRC) Benefit Tournament in Rome on October 14 and 15, 2023. The event will be held at the Rome Downtown Racquets Center, 301 W. 3rd Street. Men’s and women’s doubles games are scheduled on Saturday, and mixed doubles on Sunday. Experienced players level 2.0 and up will play in age and skill brackets.
This is the first year that the tournament will be a qualifying event for the Georgia State Tournament in Macon Nov. 11 and 12, and for the Southern Pickleball Sectional Tournament scheduled for January 2024 at the Rome’s Tennis Center at Berry College in their indoor courts. Registration is online only at bit.ly/3Pkxl7lor at www.pickleballbrackets.com (search for Family Resource Center).
FRC board member and tournament organizer Chase Tolbert expressed his gratitude to the Southern Pickleball Association for supporting this event. The Association is committed to expanding pickleball opportunities in the southeast by providing reasonably priced and well-run events, and “this is a great partnership to further that mission as well as continue to protect families in our community,” said Tolbert.
Hampton Inn & Suites in Rome is the primary sponsor for this event. Additional sponsors include Prusakowski State Farm Agency and Henderson and Sons Funeral Home.
The Family Resource Center provides no-cost in-home support to families with children 12 and younger who are experiencing challenges that threaten children’s wellbeing. Executive Director Tina Bartleson said, “Events like these help us to provide essential services to families in need and allow community supporters to live healthy lives while supporting the wellbeing of others.”
