SCRAP TIRE AMNESTY DAYS TO RETURN OCTOBER 20TH AND 21ST

Scrap Tire Amnesty Days will return in October to the GE Plant, located at 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome. Hours are 12 pm to 5 pm on Friday, October 20th and and 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 21st.

The Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are made possible by a grant from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) program.

Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County, says that event hours are flexible to accommodate county residents’ varied schedules. The October event is ideal for those who were unable to make it to the Scrap Tire Amnesty Days that were held back in August.

There are some guidelines to follow for Scrap Tire Amnesty Days –

o   10 tires per vehicle, limit two farm tractor tires

o   Must have Floyd county tag or other proof of residency (license, tax bill, utility bill)

o   No commercial tires (tractor trailer, skid steer, fork lift)

o   No tires on rim

o   Tires must be clean and dry

o   Multiple trips are not allowed for individuals or vehicles
