As the end of September and the beginning of October are approaching, the Rome Downtown Development Authority expresses gratitude for a successful First Friday concert series and looks forward to another Fiddlin’ Fest.
Aundi Lesley, Director, declares that this year’s First Friday concerts were a big hit and drew thousands of visitors to downtown Rome. She adds that the DDA is open to suggestions for next year.
The concert series takes place every year on the first Friday of every month from June through September.
The Rome DDA urges locals to attend the 8th annual Fiddlin’ Fest, scheduled for Saturday, October 14th from 12 pm until 6 pm. Lesley anticipates that the 2023 event will be even more successful than the ’22 event, which drew over 25,000 people.
Fiddlin’ Fest features live bluegrass music, vendors, a car show, pony rides, river cruises, and more. This event is fun for locals, as well as for bluegrass fans from other towns, attests Lesley.
There is no cost to attend the event. Pony rides are $5 each. The DDA has teamed up with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism to offer the Fiddlin on the River cruises, which will feature live bluegrass music aboard the Roman Holiday. Tickets for those cruises are available at www.freshtix.com and are $15 per person – or $20 with a special gift, says Lesley.
Lesley enthusiastically describes Fiddlin’ Fest as a ‘true street festival’ that is fun for the whole family.
