SCRAP TIRE AMNESTY DAYS SCHEDULED FOR THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Scrap Tire Amnesty Days will be offered again by the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center this Friday, October 20th from 12 pm until 5 pm and Saturday, October 21st from 8 am until 2 pm at the GE Plant, located at 1389 Redmond Circle in Rome.

The Scrap Tire Amnesty Days are made possible by a grant from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) program.

Appointments are not required, but there are some guidelines to follow, states Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County. Those include:

o   10 tires per vehicle, limit two farm tractor tires

o   Must have Floyd county tag or other proof of residency (license, tax bill, utility bill)

o   No commercial tires (tractor trailer, skid steer, fork lift)

o   No tires on rim

o   Tires must be clean and dry

o   Multiple trips are not allowed for individuals or vehicles

The October event is ideal for those who were unable to make it to the Scrap Tire Amnesty Days that were held back in August, adds Wells.
