ROME CITY COMMISSION APPROVES EXEMPTION FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE TO ALLOW ROME BUSINESSES THAT SELL ALCOHOL WITHOUT FOOD THE ABILITY TO OPERATE THIS SUNDAY

(From the City of Rome, GA – Government):

State Law requires that businesses who sell alcohol without food, cannot sell on Sunday (the state mandates a food to drink ratio to serve beer, wine or liquor on Sunday); but the state does allow municipalities to designate one single Sunday each year to permit these businesses to operate.

The Rome City Commission held a Special Called Meeting on Wednesday and approved an exemption for New Year’s Eve 2023 allowing the Rome businesses who sell alcohol without food the ability to operate on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Businesses include: Alibi Prohibition & Combat Market, Beer Barrel, Cosmic Dog, North Mesa, Old Havana Cigar Co., and Sports Page.
