The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency’s SAFE Academy will return in 2024. This free emergency preparedness training was very popular among locals in 2023. This year’s course will include extra classes, including a section on internet safety. Participants may attend one or all classes, which are held twice a month on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m, according to Floyd EMA. Classes will take place at the Emergency Operations Center located at 407 East 12th Street in Rome, according to Tim Herrington, Floyd EMA Director.
