REMINDER: ROME-FLOYD RECYCLING CENTER TO HOST FIRST COLLECTION EVENT OF 2024 ON JANUARY 20TH

Here’s a reminder to Floyd County residents that the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center, 412 Lavender Drive in Rome, will host its first Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event for 2024 this Saturday, January 20th from 9 am to 3 pm.

Appointments must be scheduled in advance, says Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County. She adds that the household hazardous waste items typically collected during these events include liquids like used motor oil, paint, herbicides and pesticides. The electronic items typically gathered include computers, televisions, recorders, and most any peripheral type of equipment like printers and keyboards.

Appointments may be scheduled online via the SignUpGenius link at www.floydcountyga.gov or by calling the center at (706) 291-5266.

The event is for Rome/Floyd residents only. Be sure to have proof of Floyd County residency for the event (vehicle tag, license, utility bill, etc.).

Events like these are intended to keep hazardous materials out of the landfill, asserts Wells.

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center’s collection event calendar for the rest of 2024 is as follows:

March 9th – Electronics only

May 11th – HHW and Electronics

July 13th – Electronics only

September 21st – HHW and Electronics

November 9th – Electronics only
