ATLANTA BRAVES DROP FINALE BUT TAKE REGULAR SEASON OPENING SERIES AT PHILADELPHIA VERSUS PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies by 5-4 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA. That denied a sweep for Atlanta in the regular season opening set among rivals in the National League East.

The Braves jumped on the board first with a two-run homer by Ozzie Albies in the top of the first inning. That marked his second consecutive game with a two-run homer in the first.

The Phillies quickly made it 2-1 with a home run by Kyle Schwarber to begin the bottom of that inning. Adam Duvall clubbed an RBI single to make it 3-1 in favor of Atlanta during the top of the fourth. Philadelphia notched another in the fifth, then tied the game on an RBI single from Trea Turner and surged ahead with a two-run single from Alec Bohm in the seventh. Albies drove in another run during the eighth, but the Braves ended up losing to the Phillies, again, by a final score of 5-4 on Sunday.

Aaron Bummer was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Matt Strahm was the winning pitcher for Philadelphia, while Jose Alvarado got the save.

The Braves will continue their regular season opening road trip this afternoon with the first of three games in Chicago, IL versus the White Sox. First pitch is set for 2:10 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 12:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
