ATLANTA BRAVES PICK UP SHUTOUT WIN IN RAIN-SHORTENED OUTING AT CHICAGO VERSUS THE WHITE SOX

The Atlanta Braves blanked the Chicago White Sox 9-0 in an outing that was shortened by rain to eight innings at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, IL on Monday afternoon.

The Braves scored their first run of the day on a groundout by Ronald Acuna Jr. in the top of the third inning. Orlando Arcia clubbed a two-run double in the fourth, then Austin Riley scored on a wild pitch during the fifth. Atlanta notched two more runs in the sixth on an RBI double from Ozzie Albies and an RBI single from Riley. Riley added the icing on the cake with a three-run homer in the eighth.

Charlie Morton was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up three hits, walked two, and struck out six in five and two-third scoreless innings. Chris Flexen was charged with the loss for Chicago.
