ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN SERIES IN HOUSTON WITH WIN OVER ASTROS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros 6-1 on Monday night in the first meeting of a three game set at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX. It was the second straight win for Atlanta.

The Astros scored the first run of the evening with an RBI single from Alex Bregman in the bottom of the first inning. The Braves tied it up at 1-1 when Travis d’Arnaud scored on a throwing error in the top of the second.

Atlanta took the lead during that same inning when Ozzie Albies was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to allow Jarred Kelenic to reach home plate.

The Braves notched four more runs in the top of the ninth on RBI singles by Orlando Arcia, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna, and a fielder’s choice from Michael Harris II.

Aaron Bummer was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta, and Spencer Arighetti took the loss for Houston.

Monday night’s game was the first for the Braves in Houston since emerging as the victors in the World Series with a win in Game Six over the Astros at Minute Maid Park on November 2, 2021.
