ROME EMPERORS DROP WEDNESDAY OUTING TO HICKORY CRAWDADS

(Media release from the Rome Emperors):

The script was flipped in game two of Rome’s series with Hickory, as the Crawdads never trailed in their 4-1 victory, breaking their four-game losing streak against the Emperors.

Owen Murphy gave up a two-run homerun to Hickory’s Konner Piotto in the first and wouldn’t give up another run the rest of the way. Murphy struck out four and walked four over 5.2 innings. Rome’s 6-7-8 batters of Tavarez, Janas, and Exposito accounted for five of the Emperors’ six hits. Tavarez’s triple in the second brought home Rome’s only run. The Emperors would go 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

The ‘Dads and the Emps continue their series tomorrow with a 7:00 pm first pitch.
