SPRING ACTIVITIES WRAPPING UP AT ROME-FLOYD PARKS AND RECREATION

(Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation):

It was a busy spring at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation with various events, baseball and softball tournaments, youth sports and there is still more to come.

Recreational baseball, softball and t-ball kicked off the season in April with 83 teams between the three leagues and more than 1,100 kids participating. The spring season wraps up in May before adult softball kicks off their early summer league. Middle school baseball also started in March and wrapped up in April.

April was a big month with some major events including Special Olympics, National Arbor Day Celebration and the Backyard BBQ Bash. More than 200 special athletes from Rome and Floyd County schools showed out at Darlington School for the Special Olympics on April 25.

Smoke filled the air at Ridge Ferry Park for the annual Backyard BBQ Bash on April 27. Twelve teams competed but only one team was named the overall champion, M&A Happy Hawgs from Cave Spring. All results can be found at www.rfpra.com.
