REMINDER: TURNER MCCALL CLOSED NIGHTLY NEAR ATRIUM HEALTH FLOYD STARTING TONIGHT

(Announcement from Floyd County Emergency Management):

A closure on Turner McCall Boulevard will not impact the daily commute for drivers, however closures will affect those out after 9 p.m. beginning on May 6 near Atrium Health Floyd. The intersection with Martha Berry Highway will remain open.

Vehicles traveling toward Downtown Rome from Shorter Avenue will detour using Second Avenue to West Third over to Fifth Avenue;  traffic on Turner McCall Boulevard will detour at North Fifth Avenue then over to Martha Berry Blvd; west bound commercial traffic must use New Calhoun Highway (Ga 53) to the Veterans Highway (Ga Loop 1);  east bound commercial traffic must use Redmond Circle (Ga Loop 1) to New Calhoun Highway (Ga 53).

The area of construction during the nightly closure is within a small footprint that extends from the area of the hospital parking deck at Bojangles west to the intersection with Martha Berry Highway. A new water main will be installed as part of the Second Avenue road improvement project. Construction officials advise that the closure should not disrupt the daytime flow of traffic along Turner McCall Blvd.  The closure is permitted by Georgia Department of Transportation from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. and may last up to five days.
