FLOYD COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS TO HOST COMMUNITY WORKSHOP ON JUNE 1ST

(Announcement from the Floyd County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers):

The Floyd County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will present a workshop on “Making Your Own Hypertufa Plant Container” on June 1st from 10am to 12pm at Chieftains Museum and Major Ridge Home in Rome, GA. Participants will make original planters for their gardens. Advanced registration is necessary, and there is a minimal $10 charge to cover the cost of supplies. Contact the Floyd County Extension Office at (706) 295-6210 to register. Keith Mickler, Floyd County Extension Agent, says that containers made during the workshop will be worth more than the cost to participate in the workshop.

Attendees are advised to wear old clothes, as this is a hands-on activity that may get a little messy. Also, bring rubber gloves and a container to be used for molding the mixture such as a large bowl or cardboard box that is no larger than 12’x12’x8′.
