ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN HOMESTAND WITH SHUTOUT WIN OVER CHICAGO CUBS

The Atlanta Braves opened a seven-game homestand with a 2-0 shutout win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday night at Truist Park.

Zack Short got the Braves on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning. That was followed by an RBI single from Ronald Acuna Jr.

Atlanta’s starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez gave up just two hits, walked two, and struck out four over five innings before exiting with back tightness. Ray Kerr was credited with the win, while AJ Minter picked up the save. Hayden Wesneski was charged with the loss for Chicago.

The Braves improved to 25-13 on the ’24 season and remain in second place of the National League East. The Cubs are 24-18 and in second place of the NL Central.
