David Thornton has been elected as the newest member of the Floyd County Board of Commissioners. He won Tuesday’s runoff election and will proceed to fill the vacancy of Post 4 that was left by the passing of Larry Maxey back in November.
Thornton received a total of 2,892 votes, and Chip Hood received 1,713 votes in the runoff, for which 7.37% of Floyd County’s voters cast ballots either on Tuesday, during the early voting period last week, or absentee by mail.
Certification of election results will be held on Friday, April 18th.
