The Rome Emperors lost to the Hub City Spartanburgers by 1-0 on Thursday evening in the third outing of a six-game set at AdventHealth Stadium. That allowed Hub City to take the lead in the series by two games to the Emperors’ one. Game four is on tap for tonight at 7 pm.
The Emperors’ set against the Spartanburgers will continue through Sunday. It will be followed by an off-day on Monday, then a six-game series versus the Greenville Drive next Tuesday through Sunday in Rome. Gavin Booker, play-by-play announcer for the Emperors, enthuses that there will be plenty of opportunities for local fans to enjoy baseball over the next week plus.
The weather might be an issue this weekend, but Booker is not worried. He attests that the staff will evaluate and make changes whenever necessary. The new surface on the field will be just fine.
