Do you, like George Clinton and Parliament, “want the funk”? Then make plans to join the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation on Saturday, May 24th at 6 pm for “Fashion, Film, Funk at the DeSoto”.
Leanne Cook, President of the HDTF Board of Directors, says that attendees will enjoy a funky fashion show, followed by a film about the foundations of funk music entitled “WE WANT THE FUNK!”.
The film will be followed by live music from Kharisma Jazzmatic, enthuses Cook.
Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing restoration of the DeSoto. Some funds will also benefit the Rome International Film Festival, of which Cook is Executive Director. Tickets range from $27 to $47 and are available online at www.thedesoto.org.
