The Atlanta Braves fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates by 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set in Pittsburgh, PA. That allowed Pittsburgh to take the weekend series by 2-1. Atlanta was again denied the opportunity to reach .500.
The Braves hoped for some late inning magic as Sean Murphy tied the game at 3-3 with a pinch-hit, three-run double in the top of the eighth. However, Joey Bart delivered a walk-off RBI in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Pirates to victory.
Raisel Iglesias was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Dennis Santana got the win for Pittsburgh.
The Braves are now 19-21 on the 2025 regular season. They will be back on their home field tonight with the opener of a four-game National League East series against the Washington Nationals. The Rome Emperors finished a 12-game homestand with a 6-0 shutout win over the Greenville Drive on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a six game set at AdventHealth Stadium. The Emperors took the series by 4-2 and went 7-5 during their homestand to take the top spot in their division. They have today off and will open a 12-game road trip on Tuesday evening with the opener of a six-game set in Greensboro, NC versus the Grasshoppers.
