The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals by 4-3 on Monday night in the opener of a four game National League East set at Truist Park.
The Braves scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles from Marcell Ozuna and Michael Harris II. James Wood hit a solo home run to get the Nationals on the board during the top of the fourth. Ozuna clubbed a solo shot that increased Atlanta’s lead to 3-1 in the fifth. The Nats notched a pair of runs to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the ninth. Then in the bottom of that inning, Alex Verdugo delivered a walk-off single that lifted the Braves to victory.
Raisel Iglesias was credited with the win for Atlanta. Jackson Rutledge took the loss for DC.
