The Rome International Film Festival and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation invite families to a screening of Disney’s “Moana” on Sunday, May 18th at 3 pm at the DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad Street.
Leanne Cook, RIFF Executive Director and President of the HDTF Board of Directors, enthuses that the popular character Maui will make an appearance. Kids are encouraged to dress in costume.
Tickets are available at www.riffga.com at a cost of $10 each. Proceeds will support the 2025 Rome International Film Festival, scheduled for November 6th through 9th, as well as the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation’s ongoing renovations to the DeSoto Theatre.
A screening of “Moana 2” is slated for Saturday, June 21st at 3 pm.
These screenings are part of a series hosted by RIFF and HDTF to appeal to a wide range of audiences, says Cook. Fans of “The Big Lebowski” will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, July 26th. A 7 pm screening of that film will be accompanied by White Russians and human bowling with giant balls and pins.
Tickets to that movie are also available on the RIFF website at a cost of $20 each.
“The Sound of Music” will be screened during the holiday season on Sunday, December 28th at 3 pm, adds Cook.
