Media release from the Rome Symphony Orchestra:
The Rome Symphony Orchestra invites the community to experience an unforgettable, serene evening under the open sky with “Bridgerton: Music in the Garden” at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in The Cove on the beautiful Darlington School campus. Featuring the talents of the Rome Symphony String Quartet, this special live outdoor garden performance will transport guests to early 1800s Britain with the beauty, passion, romance and artistry of the music from Netflix’s hit series “Bridgerton.”
“Much like the music from the show itself, this concert will be a mixture of classical string quartet music and pop arrangements,” said Jeffrey Dokken, Music Director and Conductor of the Rome Symphony Orchestra. “What many people don’t know about ‘Bridgerton’ is that some of the songs are classical string quartet music, while some are modern pop tunes played by a classical string quartet.”
Thanks to the availability and release of the period romance series’ sheet music for purchase and distribution, RSO musicians will perform actual arrangements from across the show’s current three-season run.
“Bridgerton” follows the eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family as they seek love, happiness, and social standing in early 19th century London, reimagining high society with modern sensibilities. Inspired by Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, Netflix’s popular alternative history drama is expected to debut its fourth season in 2026.
Perhaps as emblematic as the music — if not more so — is the program’s costuming, with its fitted bodices, bonnets and parasols, lightweight and flowing fabrics, as well as linen shirts, cravats, pantaloons and canes. RSO guests are invited to help set the scene for the evening by dressing according to the Regency-era England theme and setting of “Bridgerton.”
“Whether you’re a fan of the hit show or simply appreciate exquisite music in a charming outdoor setting, our string quartet is sure to delight and entertain at this special performance,” Dokken added. “If you do not consider yourself a classical music lover but you love ‘Bridgerton,’ we encourage you to come out and experience this concert. I bet you’ll discover that you like classical music more than you thought!”
The Darlington School campus, located at 1014 Cave Spring Road SW, will open gates to RSO guests at least one hour prior to the performance. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring lawn chairs as well as outside food and beverages. Tables and chairs are available for rent by contacting the RSO by phone in advance of the concert.
Due to the intimate nature of this special musical engagement — the RSO’s final concert of the 2024–25 season — attendees are advised to purchase tickets for “Bridgerton: Music in the Garden” in advance. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.RomeSymphony.org or call 706-291-7967.
