LOCALS INVITED TO MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND BBQ, SERVICES

American Legion Post 52, located at 1205 Calhoun Road in Rome, invites the community to its Memorial Day weekend BBQ Sale, slated for this Saturday, May 24th from 10 am until 2 pm.

John Fortune, Senior Vice Commander, says that the proceeds from the sale will fund things like scholarships for local high school students and holiday meals for veterans.

Pulled pork plates will be available for $14 each. Brunswick stew will be sold by the quart, pint, and cup. Supporters may dine in or carry out meals. To place a to-go order, call Fortune at (706) 346-0119.

Desserts will additionally be available for purchase from the Post’s Auxiliary. A yard sale will be held from 8 am until 2 pm.

The public is also encouraged by Fortune to attend the Exchange Club of Rome’s annual Memorial Day Service set for Monday at 10 am at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, as well as Shannon’s Memorial Day Service.

Fortune states that it is especially important for everyone to remember the reason for Memorial Day – to honor the US military personnel who died in service to our country.
