The Atlanta Braves fell to the Washington Nationals by 5-3 on Tuesday night to open a three-game National League East set in Washington DC.
The Nationals scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to include an RBI double from Keibert Ruiz, who later reached home plate on a wild pitch by Spencer Strider. Luis Garcia Jr. also hit an RBI single. The Braves tied it up at 3-3 during the top of the second. Matt Olson got it started with a home run to begin the inning. Eli White also contributed an RBI double and went on to reach home plate on a game-tying RBI double by Michael Harris II.
However, the Nats surged ahead with a homer by Dylan Crews in the bottom of that inning. They added another run on a sac fly by Nathaniel Lowe in the seventh and won the game, again, by a final score of 5-3.
Strider took the loss for Atlanta in his return from the injured list after giving up four runs and six hits, walking one, and striking out three in four and one-third innings. Mitchell Parker picked up the win and Kyle Finnegan got the save for DC.
The Braves are back at .500 with a record of 24-24 on the ’25 regular season. They are in third place of the NL East, while the Nationals are in fourth place at 22-27.
