The Atlanta Braves lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks by a final score of 8-3 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game set at Truist Park. It was the second straight loss for Atlanta and the second win in a row for Arizona.
The D’backs struck first with a home run by Ketel Marte in the top of the first inning. They added another during the second on an RBI single from Gabriel Moreno. Marte hit a two-run homer in the third. The Braves scored all three of their runs during the bottom of the fourth inning. Drake Baldwin, National League Rookie of the Month for May, got it started with a home run. Atlanta also notched a pair of unearned runs to come within a run of Arizona in that inning. However, the Diamondbacks padded their lead with a pair of home runs from Corbin Carroll to include a solo homer in the fifth and three run shot in the ninth. They won the game, again, by a final of 8-3.
Spencer Strider was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up five runs and six hits, walking two, and striking out four over five innings. Zac Gallen got the win for Arizona.
The Braves will face the D’backs again tonight at 7:15 pm. Fans may listen to play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network locally on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
