CRBI’S SWIM GUIDE IS BACK FOR 2025

Do you plan to swim, paddle, and/or fish in rivers, lakes, and/or other bodies of water in the Rome, GA area over the Summer? Before you hit the water, the Coosa River Basin Initiative urges you to check out its 2025 Swim Guide, available at www.coosa.org.

Courtney Altice, Communications Manager, says that the non-profit is now collecting water samples from 30 popular spots through Labor Day weekend, and those samples are tested for harmful E. coli. The Swim Guide is updated every Friday afternoon, just in time for those making plans for the weekend.

Green sites indicate “low” levels of E. coli and are suitable for recreation. Red sites have a “high” level of E. coli and visitors should use extra caution or avoid that site.

Levels of E. coli tend to rise with heavy rainfall, adds Altice.

The public may support the Swim Guide by making a donation to the Coosa River Basin Initiative. Information is on the website.
