The Atlanta Braves fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks by 2-1 on Wednesday night in the second meeting of a three-game set at Truist Park. That marked the third straight loss for Atlanta and the third win in a row for Arizona.
The Diamondbacks notched their first run of the night on an RBI single from Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the top of the third inning and their second on an RBI single by Ketel Marte during the top of the ninth. Drake Baldwin walked in the Braves’ lone run of the night in the bottom of the ninth.
Chris Sale took the loss for Atlanta. He gave up just one run and three hits, walked four, and struck out 10 over six innings. Merrill Kelly picked up the win and Justin Martinez got the save for Arizona.

The Rome Emperors defeated the Greenville Drive by a final score of 4-1 on Wednesday evening in the second outing of a six game set at Greenville, SC. It allowed the Emperors to improve to 27-26 and take sole possession of third place in the South Atlantic League’s South Division. They are two and a half games back from the first place Bowling Green Hot Rods and a game behind the second place Hub City Spartanburgers, as well as one game ahead of the fourth place Drive. Those teams are all competing for the top spot upon the conclusion of the first half of the 2025 season, which is rapidly approaching. The Emperors and the Drive will continue their series in Greenville, SC with game three this evening at 6:45 pm.
Rome’s series at Greenville will continue through Sunday. It will be followed by an off-day Monday, then a six-game homestand at AdventHealth Stadium versus the Greensboro Grasshoppers next week. Fans may purchase tickets and get more information at www.goemperors.com.
